Hand carved from a solid 22″ diameter Black Walnut log to serve as a one of a kind vanity chair. Designed to complement a high end bath. Those who have tried it say it is surprisingly comfortable!!
This tree was about 100 years old when I salvaged it from becoming firewood. Most trees this large of any length are milled – so I was very happy to make a unique furnishing with it. After initial carving I air dried it before sending it to the kiln for 8 months 24/7 drying. Finally it is finished!
Attractive figuring / beautiful linear and end grain with detail sanded cracks. Finished with a 3x hot oil worked to a super smooth touch and mirror like sheen brings out the true nature of this hard wood. As with all my stumps this has been kiln dried and disinfected by a heating process. Felt feet to ease in sliding the chair on wood or tile.
